Vil.la Joana – Collserola

The work consisted of the refurbishment of the Masia Vil-la Joana, located in Collserola. The farmhouse where Jacint Verdaguer lived at the beginning of the 20th century is now used as a museum and is part of the Museu d’Història de Barcelona.

Due to the change of use, it was necessary to reinforce the entire structure, using HALF concrete: lightweight self-compacting concrete with fibres, as it is a pumpable material, apart from being resistant, it also provides an easy, fast and safe method of application. Some areas of the structure were particularly deteriorated, and it was necessary to reconstruct the “volta Catalana”.

In some cases, a steel structure was chosen, using HAL (lightweight self-compacting concrete).
