Sant Antoni Market

The refurbishment of the Mercat de Sant Antoni in Barcelona is highly complex and involves restoring the modernist building and adding four underground floors.

The construction process began by supporting the building on a large post-tensioned concrete slab of some 13,000m2 and 1.20m thick, together with the construction of a foundation diaphragm wall around the perimeter of the building, 38m deep and 1m wide, which allowed the construction process of the underground floors to be carried out by means of a descending system.

Commissioned by the UTE Nou Mercat de Sant Antoni, formed by the companies Sacyr, Scrinser and Copcisa, Promsa has produced the concrete for the construction of this large post-tensioning slab.
