Gas tanks – Enagas

Liquefied natural gas tanks are an infrastructure with high technical requirements both in terms of the execution of the work and the materials used to build them. For the construction of these two sets of gas tanks in Barcelona and Gijón, 2 on-site plants were set up for exclusive supply. The works also included a gasification plant (in Gijón).

Most of the concrete manufactured and supplied was of the cryogenic concrete type, as the characteristics of the tank required very high-strength concrete with the capacity to withstand freeze-thaw cycles.

The concrete for the walls was cast in several phases using the “climbing” procedure.

The quality control of the concrete has been fundamental, so PROMSA chose to install a mobile quality laboratory on site to provide exhaustive control.
