Tips for applying fibreglass mesh for pool waterproofing

The summer season starts and it is precisely now when we begin to detect flaws and leaks. At Molins, we offer a wide range of products to solve these situations, such as fibreglass mesh for the reinforcement of liquid waterproofing membranes.

Fibreglass is a key material for the waterproofing of swimming pools, as it offers many advantages and endless construction possibilities.

Discover in this Blog post, how to apply fibreglass mesh to waterproof swimming pools and achieve excellent results with our tips.

In which situations is it advisable to use fibreglass mesh to waterproof swimming pools?

The use of fibreglass mesh is now widespread throughout the world and is a building material that should not be missing on any construction site.

From Molins, we offer you one of our star products, BETOFIBER GLASS, an alkali-resistant fibreglass mesh suitable for reinforcing the waterproofing of roofs and terraces, preventing the appearance of fissures and cracks.

This fibreglass mesh is alkali-resistant. We would also like to point out its low grammage. In addition, it has a high mesh stability. It does not contain Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) and provides excellent adaptability to the substrate.

It also provides greater mechanical resistance to liquid waterproofing membranes. It facilitates the capacity of waterproofing membranes to absorb movements of the substrate.

How to apply fibreglass mesh for waterproofing swimming pools (We explain the method step by step)

  • Use BETOFIBER GLASS fibreglass mesh between coats.
  • Wait a minimum of 4 days for the tiles to be laid.
  • For the direct application of PROPAM® IMPE FLEX on an old vitreous mosaic tile covering, it is necessary to first check that the latter is well adhered to the base substrate and to carry out an acid cleaning of its surface.
  • For the waterproofing system to function properly, the minimum thickness of PROPAM® IMPEFLEX must be 2 mm at any point.
  • Use FLEXITEC in waterproofing where the required product is a two-component product.
  • In polyester pools, use VAT® ELASTIC to fix the tiles.

But we also have PROPAM IMPE FLEX, a hydraulic mortar that acts as a flexible, waterproofing coating. It is formulated with cement, selected aggregates and special waterproofing resins.

To ensure waterproofing in swimming pools, we also use FLEXITEC, a highly adherent and flexible mortar, also capable of withstanding hydrostatic pressure and counter-pressure and movements caused by thermal shocks.

BETOTAPE SEAL is a high performance sealing system for expansion joints, joints, half-joints, cracks or fissures, composed of a highly elastic and waterproof thermoplastic elastomer strip, with a polypropylene geotextile thermo-welded over its entire surface and on both sides.

And our experts will be happy to explain all the details for correct waterproofing. Say goodbye to all kinds of damp in your home and pool, thanks to Molins.

We leave you a webinar given by our experts where we show the steps to follow for the construction or rehabilitation of a swimming pool.
