Molins promotes the energy renovation of buildings through external thermal insulation(SATE) and the processing and management of public aid to facilitate the work of architects, planners and construction and renovation companies, as he explained at a conference on renovation and sustainability in the real estate and construction sector.

The company, which has reached an agreement with an external provider to process and collect the subsidies managed by the IDAE – the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (Instituto para la Diversificación y Ahorro de la Energía), thus responds to a context of opportunity in which the Public Administration is advocating to improve the efficiency of the building stock, taking into account that buildings are responsible for more than a third of the polluting emissions in large cities.

Precisely, the IDAE aid, which comes from the State Housing Plan 2018-2021, extended until 2022 due to the Covid-19 crisis.

Unnecessary energy wastage in households accounts for 99% of all energy wastage.

In addition to these, the nearly 6,000 million euros contemplated in the Plan for the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience of the Spanish Economy, within the framework of European aid funds, will subsidise between 35 and 100% of the total cost of building refurbishment work. Specifically, this plan contemplates the improvement of their thermal insulation with solutions such as external thermal insulation systems, which reduce energy consumption by at least 30%, reducing polluting emissions into the atmosphere by at least a third.

SATE systems such as PROPAM AISTERM provide the building with an insulating and waterproof skin on the outside, protecting it from the cold and heat and acting against other natural agents such as rain. In this way, energy wastage is eliminated by preventing drastic changes in temperature inside the home in both winter and summer and also reducing condensation and dampness.

Furthermore, as it is installed on the outside of the home, it does not reduce interior space – which is affected by traditional systems – so it is possible to stay in the home during installation. Likewise, this type of system, which increases comfort and quality of life in the home, also improves and modernises the image of buildings and can even increase their value by more than 20%, according to data from Andimac, the renovation employers’ association.

However, in addition to the SATE and the management of public aid, Molins also offers the guarantee that its systems are backed by their corresponding ETE and DIT certificates. In addition, the company offers a consultancy service prior to the development of projects and technical assistance on site that allows it to guarantee an optimal final result to the professional community responsible for the execution and development of these works.

According to Celia Pérez, Managing Director of Molins, “the construction sector and society in general must take advantage of the current beneficial context in favour of the essential and necessary energy refurbishment of our housing stock – where the majority of homes are over 40 years old, do not meet the new standards set by the technical building code and lead to real energy wastage – which will translate above all in terms of sustainability, comfort inside our homes and savings on our bills”.
