SATE – Thermal Insulation

30% of energy escapes through thermal bridges

According to data from Molins, the expert company in innovative solutions for healthy construction, 30% of the energy that escapes from buildings does so through thermal bridges, critical points such as pillars, floor slabs, shutter boxes, openings such as windows or balconies where the insulating continuity is broken.

Precisely to put an end to them, as well as to improve indoor comfort, reduce a third of the emissions that buildings release into the atmosphere and save at least 30% on energy bills, Molins proposes the external thermal insulation system which, according to the company’s data, will be the main factor responsible for the energy improvement of the housing stock by 2030.

These systems provide the building with an insulating and waterproof skin on the outside, protecting it from the cold and heat, as well as from other natural agents such as rain. In this way, the drastic changes in temperature inside the homes in both winter and summer and also the condensation and dampness that appear are eliminated.

Moreover, as it is installed on the outside of the home, it does not reduce interior space – which is affected by traditional systems – so it is possible to stay in the home during installation. Likewise, this type of system, which increases the comfort and quality of life in the home, also improves and modernises the image of buildings and can even increase their value by more than 20%, according to data from Andimac, the renovation employers’ association.

A proven solution

In this context, Molins proposes its range of PROPAM® Aisterm systems as an exterior thermal insulation solution, certified by the Eduardo Torroja Institute by means of European Technical Assessment (ETA) 09/0005, as well as by its Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) 007-001-03, which guarantee its functionality and sustainability.

This system, which is designed for both new construction and building refurbishment, is made up of different elements that work together and is compatible with all types of insulation such as EPS, XPS, mineral wool, wood fibre, cork, etc. It also has different finishes (mineral, high-performance acrylic mortars and different textures or ceramic) to adapt to all kinds of requirements and needs.

Depending on the finish selected, it has extra advantages such as repelling rainwater to better resist the effects of the weather and being a self-cleaning system, as in the case of the siloxane acrylic finish, or the aesthetic diversity provided by the ceramic finish.

In any case, Molins has a comprehensive on-site service that advises before, during and after installation; a service that is also complemented with continuous training for professionals, so that during the development and installation process, the maximum benefits of this solution are obtained, achieving great satisfaction.
