Levelling and construction of a pavement for a garage

SoluciónLevelling and construction of a pavement for a garage

Descripción sistema

For the construction and subsequent levelling of a garage floor, we need to use materials that can withstand the traffic of the vehicles that will be driving on it. The solution consists of using BETOLEVEL® 15 (thickness up to 15 mm) or BETOLEVEL® 30 (thickness up to 30 mm), self-levelling mortars of high hardness and surface resistance capable of giving the aforementioned flooring the mechanical properties necessary to achieve a correct and long-lasting application.

Once the floor has been levelled, depending on its use, it will be necessary to protect it with the appropriate material, BETOCRIL, BETOPOL or BETOPOX 92 AR.

Solution

PREPARATION OF THE SUBSTRATE

Check the state of the substrate, it must be resistant and completely set and free of dust, paint, oils, etc…

Check the existing differences in flatness. Choose the levelling mortar according to the required thickness, BETOLEVEL® 15 for thicknesses from 3 to 15 mm and BETOLEVEL® 30 for thicknesses from 8 to 30 mm.

Repair all small holes and degraded areas with the same levelling mortar BETOLEVEL® 15 or BETOLEVEL® 30, or with PROPAM® REPAR 5, PROPAM® REPAR TECHNO or PROPAM® REPAR 40 if the substrate is concrete.

Respect expansion and contraction joints. Prepare the substrate with a primer before applying BETOLEVEL® 15 or BETOLEVEL® 30:

  • Porous substrates: PROPAM® PRIMER SOL.
  • Non-porous substrates:PROPAM® GRIP +.

APPLICATION

Knead BETOLEVEL® 15 or BETOLEVEL® 30 with a slow electric mixer (500 rpm).
BETOLEVEL® 30 with a slow electric mixer (500 rpm), leave to stand for 2 minutes and mix again to have the dough ready for use.

Pour the mortar onto the substrate and spread with the help of a trowel to facilitate levelling. Use a spiked roller to de-aerate the mixture and to facilitate levelling.

If a second coat is to be applied, it must be applied as soon as the first coat can be walked on (approx. 4 hours).

Wait 8 to 12 hours for ceramic coating.Wait 72 hours to apply the top coat (acrylic, epoxy or polyurethane).

Recommendations

  • Do not apply on permanently wet soils.
  • Apply between + 5ºC and + 35ºC temperature.
  • In order to apply a second coat, the first coat must not be completely dry. If this is the case, it is necessary to prime with PROPAM® PRIMER SOL.
  • It is recommended to use PROPAM® DUR as a consolidating agent for old mortars and concretes, before applying the product, waiting 12 hours for it to dry.
  • Respect the mixing water and mix the product correctly, avoiding the introduction of too much air.
  • The indicated thickness for BETOLEVEL® 15 is between 3 and 15 mm, while for BETOLEVEL® 30 it is between 8 and 30 mm.
  • On substrates with radial heating, turn it off 24 hours before application.
  • For non-porous substrates usePROPAM® GRIP + primer.
  • It is necessary to protect the self-levelling mortar with a protective layer (ceramic, epoxy, polyurethane, acrylic paint).
