Facade coverings

What is facade waterproofing?

What is facade waterproofing.

Waterproofing is a technique to repel water from certain surfaces, e.g. facades, which is achieved by applying a water-repellent liquid or material and then drying it.

Water-repellent materials penetrate into the pores, cavities and channels inside the façades, creating a protective and waterproof layer. Waterproofing is a concept linked to waterproofing.

For waterproofing façades, Molins has both special mortars and single-layer coatings that cover all types of surfaces, smooth or rough and with different substrates; brick, thermo-clay, cement block, concrete, cellular concrete, stone and even acrylic.

Numerous technical needs arise during any construction project and to cover them we provide companies and applicators with all our solutions, with the aim of facilitating their work.

REVAT® PROTEC ORG

Facade waterproofing with Molins products: REVAT® PROTEC ORG

Molins has a water-repellent and protective liquid, REVAT® PROTEC ORG. It is a waterproofing and protective solution that easily penetrates inside the ceramic and mortar. It thus creates a barrier to the passage of moisture, preventing stains and efflorescence.

Its fields of application include the treatment of natural stone façades, absorbent ceramic tiles (stoneware, terracotta, etc.). But it is also an effective solution for the protection of ceramic coatings in kitchens, bathrooms, bricks, single-layer mortars, lime stucco and other porous materials.

In areas where the material may be exposed to extreme conditions (frequent rainfall, proximity to the sea, etc.) it will be necessary to apply a layer of REVAT® PROTEC ORG as an additional protection measure for the facade.

Its properties are more than proven, as well as its excellent penetration capacity. It protects against saltpetre, humidity, dust, etc. Another of its advantages is that it does not modify the original texture of the substrate and is resistant to detergents and domestic cleaning products.

REVAT® PROTEC ACU

Facade waterproofing with REVAT® PROTEC ACU.

This water-repellent and protective liquid is a waterproofing and protective solution, which easily penetrates inside the ceramic and mortar. In this way, it creates a barrier to the passage of humidity, preventing stains and efflorescence.

We recommend this treatment for facades in natural stone, bricks, single-layer mortars, lime stucco and other porous materials. But also for absorbent ceramic tiles: stoneware, terracotta, etc. and as protection for ceramic tiles in kitchens, bathrooms, etc.

As with the previous product, it has an excellent penetration capacity. Protection against saltpetre, humidity, dust, etc. It does not modify the original texture of the substrate and is resistant to detergents and domestic cleaning products.

How to apply water repellent on walls and facades

Molins water repellent products are easy to apply if the instructions are followed, although we recommend that the surface to be treated is properly cleaned and that it is completely dry.

Our products:

For the application of REVAT® PROTEC – ACU: the substrate must be resistant, perfectly cured and free of dust, paint, oil, etc.

If efflorescence, cement or joint sealant residues are present, they must first be removed with cement descaler.

REVAT® PROTEC – ACU: To be diluted with 3 or 4 parts water and applied by brush, roller or low pressure spray gun.

How to apply waterproofing on walls and facades.

As it is a product in aqueous solution, it is advisable to apply it on dry materials to obtain a correct treatment. Apply to the surface only once.

REVAT® PROTEC – ORG: Apply directly, undiluted, to the substrate by brush, roller or spray. On very porous surfaces it is advisable, once the first coat is dry, to apply a second coat to obtain better results.

In both products, apply uniformly over the entire surface, avoiding accumulations of product in some areas, as they would be noticeable after drying. We recommend always carrying out a test before applying the treatment to check that the appearance or tone of the surface to be treated is not altered. The water repellent effect is achieved 3 days after applying the product.
