Uses of cement-based continuous flooring for interiors

Continuous indoor flooring and its advantages. Propamsa Blog.

Continuous flooring has long been considered one of the best options for refurbishing the interior of many types of surfaces, such as businesses, homes, shopping centres, etc.

In this article we are going to focus on this type of flooring, explaining some of its advantages along with its main uses.

What is cement-based continuous paving?

We can define this type of paving as areas or surfaces that have no joints. This is achieved thanks to the shaping and bonding of chemical compounds, giving the final finish an infinite edge effect, which, at the same time, provides spaciousness.

These very specific types of flooring can be used on almost any floor, although due to their high resistance to wear and tear, they are ideal for high traffic areas such as health centres, schools, offices, commercial spaces, homes…

At the same time, they can be installed in spaces reserved for the storage of materials, destined for the stock of raw materials or finished products, ready to be transported to the loading docks. In this sense, they are common in the vast majority of manufacturing and transformation industries, as well as in logistics platforms in the different sectors of each activity.

Types of continuous indoor flooring

Currently, there are several types of continuous flooring, but in this article we will focus on detailing some of them.

Cementitious self-levelling

This type of paving is ideal if we are interested in regularising and levelling surfaces. They are materials with high adherence and great compactness, thanks to this, some of them are suitable for radiant heating systems. They harden quickly and dry without cracks, and can be applied manually by pouring or pumping.

Thanks to its self-levelling capacity we can achieve an extremely smooth final finish, it is rich in resins which at the same time help it to have high mechanical resistance allowing easy cleaning and maintenance.

Some properties of this system are:

Excellent adhesion to concrete and mortar surfaces.

● Epoxy resin flooring has good mechanical and impact resistance.

● High levelling capacity and very good surface finish.

Below we will detail the most important advantages. As we have already mentioned, it is a continuous flooring covering, i.e. it has no joints. As it is very compact, we obtain a material with low porosity, which makes it easy to clean.

These are floorings with which a perfect planimetry is achieved, which allows us to install them in areas where there is high precision equipment. At the same time, it should be noted that it has a high mechanical and abrasion resistance.

Finally, they are floorings that allow different types of finishes depending on their use.

Continuous paving in Molins

The cement-based floorings that we have at Molins comply with the European Standard EN 13813, which establishes the requirements and criteria that must be met by the products for the execution of cementitious floorings, as well as passing without difficulty all the evaluation tests for abrasion resistance, durability and hardness of the product.

Some of the products we have in stock and available to everyone are: PROPAM® GRIP+, PROPAM® PRIMER SOL, LEVELLING AGENT 10, LEVELLING AGENT 80, BETOLEVEL® 30.

Our experts give us 5 key aspects for its good execution:

  1. The substrate must be properly prepared, it must be stable, free of dust and grease.
  2. Select the appropriate primer for the substrate, whether it is very porous or not very porous.
  3. Design a good joint layout which will be vital for the success of the pavement (perimeter, expansion, splitting).
  4. It is important to choose the right self-levelling agent as required to obtain smooth surfaces.
  5. For a proper application follow the technical data sheet of the product.
