Application of single-coat mortars on ready-mixed surfaces

SoluciónApplication of single-coat mortars on ready-mixed surfaces

Descripción sistema

Low-absorbent and smooth substrates, such as concrete, do not facilitate mechanical anchoring due to the lack of pores on their surface, causing false adherences that usually end up producing cracks or detachments in the single-layer coating.

The solution in these cases is to establish a bonding bridge between the substrate and the single-layer mortar using PROPAM® FIX primer.

Solution

PREPARATION OF THE SUBSTRATE

Repair the degraded concrete with PROPAM® REPAR TECHNO, PROPAM® REPAR 40 or PROPAM® REPAR 5, depending on the required thickness.

Prior to the application of the mortar and coating, the substrate must be perfectly cured, resistant, and clean of dust, grease, remains of release agents.

When the substrate is smooth concrete, it is advisable to wash the surface of the substrate with acidified water to open the porosity and then rinse with plenty of clean water.

APPLICATION

Proceed as follows on the previously prepared substrate: First dilute in the proportion of 1 part water to 2 parts PROPAM® FIX, and mix with the aid of a slow mechanical mixer. Then apply by roller or brush. During application, stir the mixture from time to time so that the product does not settle.

Apply the REVAT® single coat mortar, once the PROPAM® FIX primer has dried, and within 3 days after its application.

Recommendations

  • It can be applied both indoors and outdoors.
  • Do not apply when there is a risk of rain or frost.
  • Use within the application temperature range of single coat mortars.
