How to anchor metal elements into concrete

SoluciónHow to anchor metal elements into concrete

Descripción sistema

To anchor prefabricated elements, heavy machinery and other metallic elements to concrete supports, it is necessary to use mortars with very specific technical characteristics.

The solution is to use PROPAM® GROUT, i.e. a mortar with high mechanical performance, compensated shrinkage, fluid consistency and high adherence, allowing it to adapt perfectly to the irregularities of the container in which the metal element will be housed, ensuring its stability.

Solution

PREPARATION OF THE SUBSTRATE

The substrate must be firm, rough and free of oils, paints, release agents, dust, etc.

Wet the substrate with water until saturation, prior to the application of PROPAM® GROUT.

When backfilling boreholes, remove dust and dirt residues as well as puddled water from the boreholes by blowing out the holes with compressed air.

APPLICATION

Mix PROPAM® GROUT according to the indications given in its technical data sheet. Use a low speed drill or a traditional concrete mixer, leave to stand for 5 minutes and mix again to obtain a paste ready for use.

Fill the planned gap. Avoid long distances between the mixing place and the place of laying to avoid possible settling.

Once poured, PROPAM® GROUT should be protected from sun, wind, etc. It is advisable to cover it with damp cloths or polyethylene sheets for 2 or 3 days. The curing operation is essential in all cases.

Recommendations

  • Applicable thickness from 5 to 50 mm in bedding fillings.
  • For backfilling, it is advisable to pour the material with the help of a rod.
  • In under slab backfill, an air duct should be provided to allow air to escape as it is filled with PROPAM® GROUT.
  • When filling deep boreholes, the air outlet must be secured by inserting a plastic tube, which is slowly pulled out.
  • In case of using mortar with a plastic consistency it will be necessary to assist compaction by light vibration.
  • In the case of fillings thicker than the specified maximum thickness, the formwork must be kept in place for at least 3 days.
  • For very high mechanical strengths use PROPAM® 140 STANDARD
  • For anchoring of reinforcement in structural reinforcement use BETOPOX® ANCHORINGS
