How to seal waterways correctly

SoluciónHow to seal waterways correctly

Descripción sistema

In order to plug water leaks in areas subject to water pressure, such as tanks, pipes, tunnels, retaining walls, etc., it is necessary to use materials with a very fast setting time, which stop the passage of water instantly.

The solution in these cases is to usePROPAM® TAPAVÍAS, BETOPLUG ultra-fast setting mortar, which is very easy to apply and, due to its technical characteristics, is suitable for carrying out this type of repair.

Solution

PREPARATION OF THE SUBSTRATE

Holes or cracks should be cleaned with high pressure water in order to remove all loose particles and dust.

Wet the substrate before applying PROPAM® TAPAVÍAS.

Trim the sides of the hole or crack at right angles, avoiding V-shaped sections, to ensure better adhesion.

APPLICATION

Add the amount of water needed to kneadPROPAM® TAPAVÍASin a rubber container (about 140 cm3 per 500 g).

Knead vigorously and quickly with gloved hand until a homogeneous, lump-free consistency is achieved.

Keep the paste on the glove until it has a firm but plastic consistency (start of setting).

Apply it directly to the water outlet and keep pressure on it with your hand for about 60 seconds.

Remove excess material so that the repair is evenly levelled with the surrounding surface of the substrate.

Keep the repair wet for about 15 minutes.

Recommendations

  • Do not apply in rainy conditions, or at temperatures below +5ºC or above +30ºC.
  • It is necessary to use personal protective equipment (gloves, goggles, etc.) for the application of the material.
  • Both PROPAM® TAPAVÍASand BETOPLUG can be used as powder rubbing in case of high seepage in retaining walls.
  • UsePROPAM® REPAR 20Rto stop slight water leaks in buried structures.
