SoluciónLaying ceramic tiles in swimming pools

Descripción sistema

The demanding conditions of use in a swimming pool put the materials used to the test.
The settling of the pool, the pressure and back pressure of the water, subject the tiles to very high stresses.

The products used for the care and maintenance of swimming pools can cause aggressions on the grout joint. To guarantee a correct result, both the adhesive and the grout must be resistant to these chemical aggressions, have a high adhesion and excellent behaviour in immersion.

In some cases, joints may be necessary to prevent the development of mould, or to be resistant to saline water. Bear in mind that the pool shell itself must guarantee watertightness against water leaks, the ceramic coating is a complement to the waterproofing.

Solution: Laying ceramic tiles in swimming pools

PREPARATION OF THE SUBSTRATE

Check the substrate, it must be hard and resistant; remove weak areas, cement laitance, release agent residues, dust, paint, etc. from the surface.

Carry out half reeds and concrete repairs (cracks, gravel nests, wall planimetry, slopes) with products from the TECHNO range.

Apply waterproofing under ceramic PROPAM IMPE FLEX in two crossed coats and a minimum thickness of 2 mm in the final coat.

APPLICATION

Knead with a slow electric mixer (500 rpm) and spread VAT® EXTRA / VAT® PORCELANICO FLEX / VAT ® FLEXIBLE / PAM® ECOGEL FLEX / PAM® ECOGEL SUPERFLEX on the substrate using a notched trowel in small sections to avoid the formation of a surface film or crust that could hinder the adhesion of the ceramic tile.

Place the pieces with a correct solidification on the surface of the pieces.

The joints are filled after 24 hours with BORADA® PLUS / BORADA® PORCELAIN or BORADA® EPOLUXE.

In new construction, the pool must be filled 21 days after the end of the grouting, which is the time necessary for the mortars to set and harden correctly.

Recommendations

  • Do not apply in rainy conditions, or at temperatures < 5ºC or >30ºC.
  • For laying ceramic tiles with low absorption and a format greater than 100 cm² useVAT® FLEXIBLE/PAM ECOGEL FLEX.
  • For installation on flexible cementitious waterproofing, VAT FLEXIBLE, PAM ECOGEL FLEX, PAM ECOGEL SUPERFLEX are recommended.
  • BORADA® EPOLUXE is recommended for pools with high requirements or saline chlorination.
