Cementos Molins buys Pretersa Prenavisa, a leading precast concrete company

This is the fifth acquisition announced by Cementos Molins in 2021, with a total investment of more than 230 million euros.

22 December 2021_CementosMolins, through its subsidiary Precon, has acquired 100% of the precast concrete structures company Pretersa Prenavisa, owned by the European investment group Kartesia. The acquisition will boost Cementos Molins’ growth in precast concrete solutions in Spain, France and Portugal, complementing its offer of innovative and sustainable solutions for construction and expanding its territorial presence in these countries.

Pretersa Prenavisa, founded more than 30 years ago, is a company dedicated to the engineering, design, manufacture and assembly of precast concrete structures, with a brand name that is highly recognised for the high quality of its products and services. The company, based in Teruel, has an extensive catalogue of innovative solutions that it produces in three modern factories in Spain (located in Teruel, Jaén and Segovia), with a total surface area of 835,000 m², serving clients in Spain, Portugal and France.

Cementos Molins is present in the precast business in Spain through its subsidiary Precon, an engineering company specialising in the design of precast concrete solutions, which for 70 years has been designing, producing and installing a wide range of precast solutions for the construction of buildings in general, public works and railway lines. Precon has ten factories located throughout Spain.

Julio Rodríguez, CEO of Cementos Molins, highlights: “With this acquisition, Cementos Molins strengthens its business in Spain and creates a very significant potential for synergies with the rest of the company’s operations”. “I warmly welcome the entire Pretersa Prenavisa team; their in-depth knowledge and experience in the sector, their range of high quality precast products and their excellent customer service will allow us to develop new market opportunities and take a further step in our strategy of profitable and sustainable growth,” he adds.

The acquisition of Pretersa Prenavisa means the integration of some 770 employees in Cementos Molins and a turnover of 56 million euros in 2020.

This is the fifth acquisition announced by Cementos Molins in 2021, following the takeover of Escofet, a benchmark in architectural concrete and urban spaces, the purchase of a white cement facility in Spain from the Çimsa group, the acquisition of Calucem, the world’s second largest producer of calcium aluminate cement (CAC), and the agreement to purchase Hanson Hispania’s aggregates and concrete business in Catalonia. In total, the operations carried out in 2021 represent an investment of more than 230 million euros.

Cementos Molins has relied on Garrigues as legal advisor, EY as due diligence advisor, and Marsh as broker and insurance advisor.
